Ashley did an interview with International Gymnast a little while ago. She quit because of her back. She didn't want to reinjure it. Her sister had to give up college gymnastics because of a back injury. Ashley is, wisely I think, trying to make sure her back heals completely rather than pushing and pushing until it gets hurt worse.

My daughter takes gymnastics at Cinci Gym. Acad, and we were there this evening. I asked someone who works there what happened to Ashley, and they said that they didn't know why she quit, that she didn't give a reason. Everyone at the gym is disappointed of course. However, Ashley did accept a college scholarship to Univ. of Alabama, so maybe that is enough for her.

Mackenzie also has another coach Jiani Wu! She's the main elite coach at Aerial but doesn't get any of the recognition. She's the best coach there, but Don and Patrice are not even letting her travel to Trials with Mackenzie! Mackenzie needs her because she is her main coach!! At Aerial we all love Jiani and feel so bad for her!!!

I also feel bad for Nansy. People seem to be blaming her quite a bit and it is truly unfair.

"I don’t think the gymnasts can make there own federation. They can’t just take over USAG."

US Gymnastics used to be run by the AAU. The USGF took over and eventually changed their name to USAG. They took over by doing more for the sport than the AAU did so they were granted governing body status. My point was not that the athlete could take over USAG, it was that anyone can make their own federation. There is nothing special about USAG in that regard.

And really, it would not be hard to do more for US gymnastics than USAG does. They are sitting on their hands doing nothing to improve this sport in the US right now. Why does Canada have an amazing gymnastics education system right now and USAG only has an online "University" that doesn't even have full courses yet? Because USAG is content to let the cream rise to the top. They have 60k team kids in the country. There are always going to be enough to make good world and Olympic teams without doing anything special (like establish education programs) to make that happen. Especially, when you have your Chows and your Liukins coming over from countries that do have coaching education programs.

If USAG has political power, why weren't they able to keep the ten from being dropped? How come they can't oust Bruno? Why are they letting artistic gymnastics get fewer team members at the Olympics.
